It is with deep gratitude and humility that EFF is announcing a partnership with Public Resource to create a Public Resource Legal Fellowship.

Longtime ally in the fight for digital rights, Public Resource, has committed to supporting a Public Resource Legal Fellow and a legal intern at EFF annually for 3 years. These fellows and interns will support and enhance EFF’s work on edicts of government, ensuring that transparency and access to the law.

Public Resource is a non-profit organization that has spent over 20 years working to make the law available for people to read and speak without restrictions. Their work in the U.S. has included legislative codes, building codes, and court documents with notable wins in the U.S. Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. Likewise, Public Resource has had a big impact in Europe and India, including significant victories such as a recent opinion of a constitutional bench of the EU Court of Justice affirming that access to the law is "of overriding public importance."

EFF has a long history of engaging legal fellows in our work who go on to work across the private sector, government, and civil society – bringing with them the digital rights lens that they honed as a member of EFF’s legal team. We are proud to bring our friendship and partnership with Public Resource into a new era with this fellowship.

Legal Director Corynne McSherry has commented, “Carl Malamud and Public Resource have been critical partners in the fight for government transparency, access to the law. We are grateful for the opportunity to weave this work on edicts of government into EFF’s legal fellowship program.”

The work of Public Resource on edicts of government is supported by a generous grant from Arcadia, a family philanthropy.
