Join EFF for our first At Home live-stream event being held in virtual reality. We will be joined by several experts in XR to discuss how augmented reality and virtual reality technologies may threaten our privacy and create opportunities for unprecedented forms of surveillance. You can view the event without virtual reality on our Twitch stream, or our Facebook or YouTube pages. If you do have a VR headset or desktop computer, you can join us in AltSpaceVR. You can join the room from this link, or with the code "YMM632"—but you will need to make an account (subject to Microsoft Privacy Policy).

While there are many promising applications of XR technologies, they also have the potential of making surveillance even more ubiquitous in our public and private lives. As these technologies are seemingly reaching an inflection point, the decisions human right defenders make today will have a lasting impact on the role these technologies play in our life tomorrow. Our panels will provide some context around how we reached the present moment, as well as consider how we might mitigate some of the surveillance issues lying just beyond the horizon.

Event Schedule (PST): 12PM-1PM
