On Friday, 20 September 2013, the government of Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and Hungary are organizing a side event at the 24th session of the Human Rights Council on how to protect the right to privacy in the digital age.  Frank La Rue, Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression and Opinion, Carly Nyst from Privacy International, Cynthia Wong from Human Rights Watch and Lucie Morillon from Reporters Without Borders will be speaking at the event. The event will be closed by the launch of the “International Principles on the Application of Human Rights to Communications Surveillance,”  presented by Privacy International, the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Access. EFF International Rights Director, Katitza Rodriguez and Access Policy Counsel Fabiola Carrion will be introducing the 13 Principles to the audience.
