Japan and the TPP

There will be an event in Los Angeles titled "Japan and the TPP", where the Assistant US Trade Representative (USTR) for Japan, Korea, and APEC Affairs, plus the Consul General of Japan will be speaking about the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement (TPP). This will be followed by a networking reception. This is part of the US Trade Representative's efforts to convince Japanese business owners and others about the supposed benefits of the TPP, so it may be full of biased information that does not acknowledge the concerns raised by civil society groups.

Maira Sutton, International Intellectual Property Coordinator, will be attending this event to observe how the USTR is proceeding with these nation-specific discussions, especially because the TPP has been such a politically volatile issue for Japan. Here is the URL for the event.
