EFF is attending ICANN 54 in Dublin to pass on concerns about proposals that would weaken privacy protections for domain name holders, such as the accreditation of privacy/proxy services. In the longer term, we will talk about the interests of users in a new domain registration information system that embeds privacy by design. We will also be speaking out against domain censorship, which occurs when a registry or registrar is asked to delete or suspend a domain. In particular, proposals for "voluntary practices" that would bypass due process are to be resisted, in line with the Manila Principles on Intermediary Liability.
