SFFILM Makers invites you and a guest to join us for the next installment of their DocTalk series led by the Electronic Frontier Foundation. As documentary filmmakers dare to continue telling the most sensitive, urgent stories of our time, they often find themselves in precarious situations that may include protecting a vulnerable source, traveling with footage, and crossing borders.

The workshop is an introduction to data protection for documentarians, and will give an overview of the various precautions and resources for digital security. The workshop will be facilitated by:

▪ Bill Budington, security engineer and activist at EFF who contributes to a wide number of tools that protect users, such as HTTPS Everywhere and SecureDrop
▪ Martin Shelton, a researcher who learns from, and works with journalists on their digital security habits
▪ Soraya Okuda, education and design lead who manages the security education initiative at EFF
▪ Tom Lowenthal, a technologist and activist who has significant experience in helping journalists with their security
