The U.S. government has turned its southern border into the main stage for debuting new and invasive surveillance technologies, heightening threats to privacy for us all. At this year’s EFF Global Members’ Speakeasy, you'll get the inside scoop on these devices and have a chance to practice spotting them with your own laptop or smartphone.

In this interactive session, EFF Director of Investigations Dave Maass will introduce the wide varieties of border technologies that surround us: from the license plate readers on our roads to the footstep sensors buried in the ground, from spy blimps in our skies to the surveillance towers above our parks. Not only will you learn about them, you're invited to use your own device to practice identifying real-world examples in Google Streetview during this session.
