Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (S.T.O.P.).- a local organization in the Electronic Frontier Alliance, (not EFF) will host this event:

End NY State Surveillance: An Evening of Action to Resist Surveillance Technology & Immigration Policing

From the Organizers:

Join the Immigrant Defense Project, Surveillance Technology Oversight Project, and The Legal Aid Society for an evening of action to resist the use of surveillance technology and information sharing which criminalize Black, Brown, and immigrant communities. We’ll talk about the urgent need to end use of the NYPD's rogue DNA database, police use of biometric surveillance, and local law enforcement collaboration with ICE, through the passage of three New York State bills:

1. End Rogue DNA Database (S1347/A6124)
2. Ban on Police Use of Biometric Surveillance (S79/A5492)
3. Ending Local Law Enforcement Collaboration with ICE (The NY4All Act, S3076/A2328)

In addition to hearing from advocates on these bills, we’ll participate in virtual actions to push lawmakers to prioritize these issues that impact our communities this session.

Moderated by Mazin Sidahmed, Co-Executive Director of Documented.

This event is not open to individuals employed by local, state, or federal law enforcement agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, or by prosecutorial agencies including District Attorney’s Offices.
