Electronic Frontiers Georgia, a local organization in the Electronic Frontier Alliance, (not EFF) will host this event:

The Trouble with Gunshot Detection Systems

From the Organizers:

Gunshot detection systems promise the rapid dispatch of police whenever gunfire is detected, but little evidence is available to prove the accuracy and efficacy of the technology to reduce gun violence. We examine case studies from other cities outside of Georgia, including the Silvon Simmons, Michael Williams, and Adam Toledo cases, to better understand if these technologies actually enhance public safety in order to get a better frame of reference for examination of systems already deployed here in Georgia. Invited speakers: Alyx Goodwin (Action Center on Race and the Economy), Jonathan Manes (MacArthur Justice Center), and Alejandro Ruizesparza (Lucy Parsons Labs).
