EFF Austin, a local organization in the Electronic Frontier Alliance, (not EFF) will host this event:

How to Make Every Media With Free & Open-Source Software

From the Organizers:

Our speaker this month is Michael Ferstenfeld. Michael is an award-winning actor and musician, a lover and maker of every media, a recovering programmer and instructional systems design specialist, and the creator of Make Every Media, LLC--a versatile production house with a passion for the preservation and proliferation of arts, creative spaces, and unique voices through podcast, film, broadcast, and interactive, including virtual conferences, live streams, variety shows, apps, games, and virtual / augmented reality experiences.

“How to Make Every Media With Free & Open-Source Software” is an ever-evolving reference guide for creating in any digital medium with free and open-source tools. We’ll start at development & podcasting and work our way through making films, games, and VR experiences, covering each medium briefly and then zooming in wherever the audience is most interested. We’ll then open up for the crowd-sourcing of more open-source tools (as we’ve surely missed some), and questions from the audience on how they can get started, moving, or published in their current focus media. Of course, not everything can be done with free & open-source software, but there’s certainly enough out there these days to get you started down the path to creating in your medium of choice!
