As extended reality and virtual world games are becoming more prevalent, we need to critically examine the privacy shortcomings of the industry’s sometimes walled-garden infrastructure. The current and future policies of the metaverse will continue to have real-world implications for human rights. Building on our community lab last year, this World Café style session invites experts in human rights advocacy, extended reality and/or the game industry to collaboratively map privacy issues and potential advocacy strategies from a variety of perspectives. After the event, participants will retain access to shared notes and be encouraged to collaborate.
