Florida Senate passes bill banning use of drones by law enforcement under most situations

In Florida, three agencies have applied for a drone license with the Federal Aviation Administration: The Miami-Dade Police Department and sheriff’s offices in Orange and Polk Counties but they have not used the aircraft during an actual operation. The University of Florida has applied for a license to use them in unmanned aerial systems research. Last year, there were 81 applications countrywide, according to FAA documents obtained by the Electronic Frontier Foundation, which advocates for restrictions on the use of drones.
