June 24, 2021 - 3:00pm PDT

S.T.O.P. - a local organization in the Electronic Frontier Alliance, (not EFF) will host this event:

S.T.O.P. x RadTech: Combating the Digital Divide with Privacy-Preserving Public Broadband

From the Organizers:

This session, we examine the movement for privacy-preserving public broadband access. Millions of Americans have long lacked internet access, but COVID-19 transformed this overlooked problem into a crisis. Internet became even more of a necessity to attend school, work, apply for unemployment, and access public health information. Almost half of all low-income households lack access to broadband, and disparities reflect wider racial inequities.

We'll be joined by H. Trostle, Noel Hidalgo, & Kim McKinley to discuss the current state of the digital divide & how to advance the movement for public broadband forward. Moderated by STOP's Albert Fox Cahn.

This workshop will take place online via Zoom. Please RSVP to receive the Zoom link prior to the event.
