October 15, 2018 - 6:00pm PDT
Portland, OR

A local organization in the Electronic Frontier Alliance (not EFF) will host this event:

Election security: How hackable are Oregon's vote scanners?

As Oregonians know, the state has a mail-in voting system, where all ballots are cast either by mail or by dropping them into collection boxes available throughout the area. But what happens to your ballot after election workers pick it up, and how do you know that your vote will actually be counted?

Sheila Golden has researched the use of optical scanners in scanning ballots and will report her findings as to the accuracy of the scanners and the results of the vote tally systems. She'll also offer updates on the current status of legislative efforts to ensure valid election results in the state of Oregon.

When:

Monday, October 15
6:00pm - 8:00pm

Where:

Northwest Academy
1208 SW 13th Ave., 2nd Floor
Portland, OR 97205

This event is organized not by EFF, but by Portland's Techno Activism 3rd Mondays—a grassroots group participating in the Electronic Frontier Alliance.
