Racial Profiling Reported in NSA, FBI Surveillance

The Muslim-Americans monitored by the government included Nihad Awad, the executive director and founder of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim advocacy and civil rights organizations. The group has been represented by the Electronic Frontier Foundation represents the CAIR Foundation in a case challenging the NSA’s mass collection of Americans’ call records. 

“These disclosures yet again demonstrate the need for ongoing public attention to the government’s activities to ensure that its surveillance stays within the bounds of law and the Constitution,” said a blog post from EFF Staff Attorney Mark Rumold. “And they once again demonstrate the need for immediate and comprehensive surveillance law reform."
