EFF-Austin, a local organization in the Electronic Frontier Alliance, (not EFF) will host this event:
Generative AI's Historical Context: From Dadaists To Algorists And Beyond
From the Organizers:
Our speaker this month is Aslan French. Aslan is a designer and traditionally trained studio artist living in Austin, Texas who has been experimenting with neural networks in a fine art context since 2015.
Aslan French will talk about the historical context of neural network art (commonly called “AI art”), arising from the generative practices of the past. What does it mean for a technique to be “generative” and what can this demonstrate to us about the nature of creativity?
Talk will both be livestreamed here and later archived here on the EFF-Austin YouTube channels. Questions for the speaker from virtual attendees may be submitted via the Youtube livestream chat, our Twitter account, @EFFaustin, or our Mastodon account, @effaustin@mastodon.social.
