S.T.O.P. - a local organization in the Electronic Frontier Alliance, (not EFF) will host this event:

Surveillance and Privacy: Immigrant Communities Under Attack

From the Organizers:

Join us for a virtual conversation between Murad Awawdeh, Executive Director of the New York Immigration Coalition, and Albert Fox Cahn, Esq., Executive Director of the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project, on the 21st anniversary of the PATRIOT Act.

In the aftermath of 9/11, institutionalized Islamophobia and xenophobia led to the rise of surveillance technology and signaled a backsliding of civil rights for minority communities. On the 21st anniversary of the PATRIOT Act, this conversation will explore how surveillance has been weaponized against immigrant communities in the name of national security and beyond.
