BRIDGING THE DIGITAL DIVIDE IN A POST-PANDEMIC MARIN

Whether it’s the way we work, socialize, learn or seek assistance, our lives are significantly impacted by technology and the opportunity it provides us to share information, resources, and care. The disruption COVID-19 presented—and the adaptations we innovated to retain some level of normalcy during the pandemic—also highlighted and exacerbated the already evident digital divide in our communities.

Even before the pandemic, cities across the US and the world were successfully taking control of their digital futures. Building and ensuring community-wide access to the high-speed, low-cost broadband internet required for full access to community, opportunity, and resources in the twenty-first century.

With the light at the end of the pandemic tunnel now in sight, what will the new normal look like? Have we learned the lessons offered us by the disparate impact of the digital divide on our most impacted neighbors and loved ones? Join Canal Alliance, Digital Marin, Marin Promise Partnership, the Marin County of Office Education, the City of San Rafael, the County of Marin, Marin Economic Forum, the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), and our distinguished panelists in exploring the opportunity before us for collective action toward a more just digital future.
