S.T.O.P.- a local organization in the Electronic Frontier Alliance, (not EFF) will host this event:

After the Riots: Is Surveillance the Answer?

From the Organizers:

Join Tech Workers Coalition SD, PANA, SURJ San Diego, Pillars of the Community, and Associated Students of UCSD for a discussion of safety in a post insurrection United States. Which freedoms are worth sacrificing in the name of safety?

The national conversation regarding legislation includes calls to create new, overly broad laws regarding domestic terrorism. These conversations lack historical context of how surveillance affects marginalized groups. Join our panelists to understand how federal post insurrection policies currently under consideration could affect us all.
