EFF Austin, a local organization in the Electronic Frontier Alliance, (not EFF) will host this event:

Distributed Technology in the Time of Pandemic

From The Organizers:

Our speaker this month is Alex Wykoff. Alex is a Product Manager with a depth of experience from over a decade long career which has spanned QA, Design, and Product. His most recent role was Product Manager at Brave where he focused on Rewards, a cryptocurrency token system which allows users to opt in to privacy preserving ads and support the creators they enjoy. A graduate of the Austin Center for Design and regular attendee of HOPE and DEFCON, Alex has an affinity for privacy, security, technology and the dialog it forms with society and culture through its implementations.

In this talk, Alex will be covering the creation and execution of Distributed Camp, a 3 day virtual conference which provided hands-on workshops for participants to explore IPFS, Beaker Browser & the Hypercore Protocol, WebTorrent, and I2P. Alex will apply a view on the implication of those technologies and their consumer-readiness based on his direct experience with those technologies and his work at Brave.

NOTE - THIS MEETUP IS VIRTUAL AND WILL CONDUCTED ONLINE WITH EFF-AUSTIN'S ZOOM ACCOUNT. To join the meetup, RSVP to this event, and then click the link that you will be shown upon RSVPing. The meeting room passcode is 110271.
