The Center for Justice & Accountability's Young Professionals Committee for Human rights is proud to present a talk by CJA human rights Attorney Scott Gilmore entitled "Digital Rights, Digital Repression: The Dual Roles of Technology in Human Rights."

Scott will discuss how digital surveillance technologies have been abused in Syria and Ethiopia to target journalists and other human rights defenders, as well as the role of social media and technology in investigating atrocities. As lead attorney on CJA’s most recent case, Colvin v. Syria, Scott will discuss the technology and government surveillance that led to the targeted killing of journalists in Syria. This event will be moderated by Eva Galperin, Global Policy Analyst for the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
