The Electronic Frontier Foundation is a co-sponsor of the Data Coalition's third annual California Data Demo Day on Thursday, Oct. 19th, at the Capitol Event Center in Sacramento.

As the Data Coalition explains:

Across California, state agencies and local governments are modernizing the way they manage information. By collecting and sharing information as open data – accessible to all, electronically standardized – governments can be truly transparent to the Californians they serve. But open data doesn’t just deliver transparency; it simplifies internal processes, too.

Join the Data Coalition and Grant Thornton for our third California Data Demo Day. The event will bring together state agency officials and legislators to explore the benefits of open data, inside and outside government. Our executive-branch panelists will share stories of open data success sourced from their agencies. Legislative leaders will explain how future reforms can drive further transparency and efficiency. Exhibitors will show how, once governments choose to standardize and publish their information as open data, technological solutions can republish, analyze, and automate.
