S.T.O.P. x RadTech: Remote Proctoring & The Fight for Student Privacy

From the Organizers:

Dr. Chris Gilliard is a writer, professor, speaker and S.T.O.P. Community Advisory Board Member. His scholarship concentrates on digital privacy, and the intersections of race, class, and technology. In this session, we delve deeper into the rapid growth of remote proctoring technology during the COVID-19 pandemic and the dangers this software poses to student privacy. Dr. Gilliard will specifically highlight the racist and ableist biases of remote proctoring, including barriers to accessibility for students with disabilities. We also will discuss student-led movements at universities around the country against this escalating surveillance.
