Panel Description:

The internet was built from the ground up for ASCII characters, leaving billions of speakers of languages that do not use the Latin alphabet underserved. We’d like to introduce a number of distinct problems for non-Left-to-Right (LTR) language users that are prevalent in existing security tools and workflows. We include testimonials and case studies from people in affected language communities: the goal would be to share and map usability issues posed by their use of different common tools which have been primarily built with LTR users (such as English users) in mind. From this effort, we hope to collect and share contextual stories of user frustrations with non-LTR language usability, with the hope that this will especially reach designers and developers working on these tools.
