The Electronic Frontier Foundation in San Francisco joined the American Civil Liberties Union in a suit seeking to force police in Los Angeles to release data captured by license-plate-reading cameras on police vehicles.

EFF, a nonprofit that lobbies lawmakers over new uses of technology that threaten public privacy, joined the ACLU Foundation of Southern California in seeking to have the data released by the Los Angeles Police Department and the LA County Sheriff's Department. They filed the lawsuit May 6.
