How User Rights Survive the Panopticon
Monday, November 5, 2018 at 7-8:30 PM

We're excited to announce our fall EFF Members' Speakeasy. We'll be hosting a panel discussion in San Francisco featuring EFF staff and our Executive Director Cindy Cohn.

The panel discussion will focus on the issues around how tech companies permeate life in ways that few thought possible a short time ago. Today, a tiny group of Internet titans have the kind of omnipresence and unprecedented power over speech, privacy, and innovation that governments could only dream of. Yet, as Amazon’s recent sale of facial recognition technology to local police demonstrates, the distance between big tech and government is shrinking. Join us for a candid Q&A on November 5th, where we’ll explore the future of online freedom in this extraordinary political climate, and a web where control over expression and creativity is increasingly centralized.

EFF's Speakeasy events are free, casual gatherings that give you a chance to mingle with local supporters and meet the people behind the world's leading digital civil liberties organization. It is also our chance to thank you, the EFF members who make this work possible.

If you are a current San Francisco Bay Area EFF member accepting email, you will find a personal invitation with location details in your inbox! Space is limited, so reserve your spot. If you are traveling through San Francisco the date of the event and would like to join in, contact membership@eff.org for more information.
