EFF at Deutsche Welle's Global Media Forum

July 2, 2014 - 12:30pm

Citizen privacy and data protection: digital security training for social media activists and dissidents After the Snowden NSA revelations, and tales of malware sent to reporters from China and Vietnam, journalists are right to ask themselves two questions: How can they protect their own privacy from online attackers? And how can they reassure their sources that they still have the power to keep information confidential and identities safe?

This workshop will focus on the threats to journalists from high-tech attackers, including rogue governments, law enforcement and criminal organizations. Participants will discuss examples, how to model and measure the risks journalists might face, and the tools and simple procedures reporters can implement right now to protect themselves.

Hosted by Danny O'Brien, EFF's International Director.
