Editor and Publisher has published an informative critique of the Washington Post's early poll in the wake of USA Today's report last week that three major telcos have violated the privacy of millions of ordinary Americans as part of the National Security Agency's (NSA's) spying program. Calling the Post's poll "highly misleading," Editor and Publisher cites two contrary polls showing that a majority of Americans oppose the spying.

And as EFF Staff Attorney Kurt Opsahl discusses in an extensive Q&A with Newsweek, everyone has good reason to oppose the spying:

"It's vital that the government operate within the rule of law. We have set forth laws about when this information can be provided, that this information can indeed be provided with proper legal process, and it is important that the government uphold the rule of law. We are a strong country that can be safe and secure and simultaneously operate within the rule of law."

Your opposition shouldn't just be heard through polls. Donate to EFF and help us stop the illegal spying program.
