Brooklyn, NY

A local organization in the Electronic Frontier Alliance (not EFF) will host this event:

Cypurr Cryptoparty

The recent Cambridge Analytica scandal has raised a lot of questions for Facebook users: How do Facebook and third parties trade my data? In what ways have I given my data away? What was my data used for? Is there anything I can do about it? Join the Cypurr Collective as they hold a discussion around this most recent issue, as well as a workshop on reducing the harm around interacting with social media, or how to get off of it all together (if possible?). They will also discuss the most recent SESTA-FOSTA bill, and how it affects user’s rights in the online world

The CyPurr Collective is a group of some tech-minded folks who are very jazzed about cybersecurity, cats, and helping folks out with their digital dilemmas. We offer workshops for activists, journalists, educators, and everyday folks who want to up their encryption game!
